All I want for Christmas is... time.
I can feel it coming. The email. The one that comes every year a week or so before Christmas, sometimes earlier.
"What do you want for Christmas this year?"
It'll come from one sister, the other will be CCd, and I'll let it sit there for a moment before I click Reply All.
In the past my reply would have been filled with a variety of things that could easily be found online or in stores. This year though, I think my sisters might have a bit more trouble with my list.
Here's what I want for Christmas.
1) Time.
I want time. Time to breathe. Time to sleep. Time to exercise. Time to just be so I can find my peaceful center again. Time to read the books piled high on my bookshelf. Time to work on my own novel. Time to play with my kids. Time to hang out with my husband. Time to cook delicious dishes for my family. And time to enjoy those meals.
2) A cleared off to do list.
For one day, just a short 24 hours, I would like to be done. Done, as in, nothing pending. Nothing calling my name. No organization, jobs, tasks, or to dos. Just done.
3) A clean and organized house.
I would like to come home from Ohio on January 1st and find my house cleared of all extraneous clutter, a place for everything and everything in it's place, plenty of storage for anything that is not extraneous, and the space optimized for my family's use.
4) A wonderful school district right where we live.
We need to be organized because we need to move because we unwittingly bought a house (long before we had kids) in a terrible school district. I don't want to move. I love our house. Even if it's cluttered and messy. (see Wish item #3)
