What to get for #3?

Presents I absolutely love having three daughters.  I don't have a sister, so for my kids to have two sisters each seems like the ultimate in fun to me.  I love watching their relationships grow and change as the months go by.  Yes, they fight, but it always is worth it to see the fun they have together.

Really, the only problem with having three daughters (at least right now when the oldest is seven) comes when it is a present-giving time.  Like Christmas.  Because, please tell me, what does a third daughter need?

I have been struggling with this question for weeks.  Poor Sydney.  She loves looking at the toy catalogs and telling me that she wants everything in them.  The problem is, that with two older sisters, she pretty much already HAS everything in them.

I have been going through the typical "What to get a 2 1/2 year old" lists of ideas.  Baby doll?  We have a nursery full.  Play food?  We could stock a Super Giant.  Crayons?  Um, have you seen our craft cabinet?  Books?  We have that one.  Yeah, that one, too.  She is really drawn to play cash registers (or as she says it "Cash Zhe-Zhe"), but she already has one that beeps when things are scanned.  Not to mention the Sesame Street one at Grandma's house and the old-school Fisher-Price one at the other Grandma's.

I am truly stumped here, folks.  My only idea so far is to give her the big plastic easel that has been in the shed for the past two years.  I think she would like it, but my problem is that it can't be from Santa because I know her big sissies have seen it in the shed and would ask uncomfortable questions.

Well, whatever we think of is bound to be better than what Santa got her for her first Christmas--a baby gate.  What can I say?  Santa knew just what that kid needed.

This is an original post to Philadelphia Moms Blog.  Hopefully Amy will think of something to get for her daughter and post about it on her personal blog, Occupation: Mommy.
