Tis the Season
I love the holiday season. My excitement is multiplied with anticipating the joy on my children's faces when they see what Santa brought. I love to get presents myself of course, but I enjoy Christmas shopping, picking just the right gift for each person on my list. I like a little hustle and bustle. I also am feeling pretty satisfied with the deals that I got through on line shopping. With free shipping even! I look forward to relaxing with my little family after all the toys are unwrapped.
In spite of loving this time of year, it is obviously also stressful in some ways.
Tis the season for rude shoppers. People so caught up in themselves they can't remember to use basic courtesy. People who stand in the middle of an aisle with no regard that someone else is there or trying to get by. I can handle the crowds if they at least try to move when they realize they are in the way. This also applies to those in the parking lot who will sit and block the entire lane while waiting for insane amounts of time for a parking place to open up. Parking is limited, sure, but I could have found a spot, unloaded my four boys, and walked into the mall in the time I was stuck behind you. At least move over to the side so I can get around. Then there's the ones who tell you off when you try to sneak around them. I promise I wasn't trying to steal your spot. I just wanted to get past you so I could find my own. (Yes, someone actually yelled at me at the post office because I dared to try to go around them in the parking lot.)
Tis the season for kids to totally change their Christmas lists. My oldest has suddenly declared that he didn't put enough on his list and he's worried he'll only get one thing. I've told him Santa understands and knows the kinds of toys he likes and will come through. I don't think he's convinced. My six year old has gone from wanting one big ticket item to several smaller things that are well below his age level. I'm not sure what to make of it at all, except I sincerely hope he's not disappointed when Santa brings that original awesome gift along with a few other things. Santa is starting to get stressed. I told them that it was too late to make changes to the wish list. They weren't very happy with me.
