CIMG1917I had a baby on March 2nd.  Now I find myself in the sleep-deprived haze of life with a newborn.  Unfortunately, I have three other kids who not only need food and clothes each day, but have activities and school that require me to be coherent and alert enough to drive them around.  I have found myself cutting back my normal daily activities to all but the most urgent and pressing.

This means that our apartment is in a semi-disaster state.  Even if cleaning is a priority for me, putting things away obviously isn't important to anyone else in our family so I'm having to let things slide more than I normally would.  For supper tonight, I caved and served everyone macaroni and cheese with hot dogs.  Normally this would be a Saturday lunch meal, but I just didn't have enough energy or foresight to plan anything else for supper.

Thankfully, I have realized that having a baby is like having a "get out of jail free" card.  Nobody dares to have high expectations for you when you are dealing with a newborn.  Emails can't be returned?  Of course not!  You have a newborn.  No posts on your blog?  How could you even consider it when you have a newborn to care for?
