SXSW 2010 Keynote with Evan Williams
To an overflow crowd gathered around monitors in hallways and ballrooms, Evan Williams, CEO of Twitter, introduced a new platform called @Anywhere to SXSW Interactive attendees. In this brief clip of the interview conducted at the Austin show, Williams describes the benefits to publishers of integrating this capability into their own websites.
Williams identified well known brands as launch partners, including Digg, The New York Times, MSNBC.com, eBay, Amazon, and Bing. Quick to differentiate it from ad platforms that offer publishers a way to monetize links embedded in text, Williams called the @Anywhere tools "an '@' platform," further branding the '@' symbol as a Twitter asset like Apple has done with the 'i' in front of phone, pad and pod.
Beyond the product launch, Williams also spoke about the Twitter company culture, which he says he thinks about daily. He says he always wants to be driving the team to build products and services that finish the sentence "Wouldn't be awesome if…?"
