Ryan Gosling's Band Performs for Old Folks
Ryan Gosling's (surprisingly great) band Dead Man's Bones performs in an old folks' home in this lengthy music video for their "Pa Pa Power" single. There's something a little (more than a little?) ironic about a band called Dead Man's Bones performing for a group of people nearing the end of their lives, but, hey, that's the sort of irony we can get behind.
Oh, and did I mention that the band performs with a children's choir? Yeah, your heartstrings will get pulled. But the director manages to pull the whole thing off without getting overly sentimental, even finding a way to work in a few dark, surreal sequences. We can celebrate this video for two reasons: (1) it's pretty great on its own and (2) a successful actor actually has a band that doesn't suck! Who would've thought?
