Titus Andronicus head into the snowy woods with a ragtag band of Civil War reenactor types in the video for "A More Perfect Union," the opening track from their recent album The Monitor.

It's a great video that does justice to the song (and to the Civil War concept of the album), but I wish we got some longer takes. The energy from the shoot is palpable and everyone looks like they're having a good time, but the editing (as is the norm in videos these days) breaks up the action a bit too much.

But, still, it's a pretty kick-ass song. Edited down from over seven minutes on record to a tight three-and-a-half "radio edit," the track loses its sprawling concept rock overtones, but gains a renewed sense of immediacy and pop craftsmanship. Enjoy!
