Music Video: Robyn, "Hang With Me"
We've written before about Swedish pop sensation Robyn. Her first album of 2010, Body Talk, Pt. 1, dropped in the States last month to uniformly positive reviews, although many commented on the relative coolness of her music. The A.V. Club's Genevieve Koski called the record's "icy, controlled vocals and cool synth textures … almost alienating in their precision."
This video seems calculated to directly counter that sort of claim. The track is called "Hang With Me" and the video feels—rather appropriately—like hanging with the artist herself. Shot in a naturalistic style, this feels more like a mini tour doc than a traditional music video. This could have easily played as pretentious, but it's pulled off here with great style.
