M.I.A. Performs "Born Free" on Letterman
There's been an awful lot of talk lately about M.I.A., better known to her family as Maya Arulpragasam: a controversial New York Times profile; an ensuing feud with the writer (conducted in a highly public fashion); a confrontational and violent music video; and now the release of /\/\/\Y/\, her polarizing new album of outré electronic pop. The only thing that everyone seems to agree on is that she's fun to talk about.
Her performance of Suicide-sample single "Born Free" on Letterman this Tuesday—complete with multiple M.I.A. impersonators and Martin Rev (of the aforementioned band Suicide) in the backing ensemble—has certainly had people buzzing. What do you think? Is "Born Free" brilliant or brutal?
