Here's to Twinkle and Big Bear

It wasn’t too long ago that I shared a trailer from two cinematic films that focus on the trials, tribulations and idiosyncrasies of modern male friendships from Chivas Regal (Full Disclosure: Euro PR does work with Chivas) and Academy Award winning short filmmaker Joachim Back, and now it appears that the film has been slowly picking up from bloggers within the film and lifestyle arena.

Chivas isn’t the only brand to have released films to promote their brand via social media. Hell, it’s not even new.  AdAge published a story last year about brands flocking to webseries since it’s a lower cost alternative to producing a full TV commercial.  The story outlined P&G’s “Black is Beautiful,” Ikea’s “Easy to Assemble,” Kraft’s “Real Women of Philadelphia,” and a few others.

Although Chivas is a client of Euro PR, the two films tell an amazing story. I would have talked about it regardless of their client status.

Perhaps it’s because I’m a guy, and Chivas chose to follow the lives of a group of friends that come together in the end regardless of the challenges the characters endure. The story is something I relate to – from meeting with friends and recapping the day over a drink to just goofing off and having a good time. And I’m sure many men can relate to how they bond.

I won’t go too much in detail about the films, but note that within a few days of the trailer’s release, Art of Manliness, The Establishing Shot and a few others picked up the films. So it’s definitely worth watching. Check them out for yourself.
