Harmony Korine Acts da Fool for Proenza Schouler
Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, a high-end women's fashion line, called upon filmmaker Harmony Korine to produce a film in conjunction with their Fall 2010 collection. Korine, who wrote Larry Clark's Kids and helmed unsettling art-house favorites Gummo and Julien Donkey-Boy among others, handed them "Act da Fool," a Super-8 short documenting a group of girls in Nashville. Korine says the film was inspired by "this gang of black girls that were really hardcore delinquents" he grew up with. It's a strange, sort of challenging work of art. Not quite what you'd expect from Proenza Schouler. On the other hand, it's exactly what you'd expect from Harmony Korine.
