Even Heavy Metal Can't Make Curling Exciting
Just prior to the 2006 Winter Olympics, heavy metal band Hammerfall created this video with a group of gals that turned out to be the gold medal champs that year, the Swedish Women's Curling Team. Despite some of the most beautiful curlers in the sport, some cool guitar licks and the requisite redundant heavy metal refrain, there still isn't enough to make the sport of curling exciting to watch.
After Canada's win against the Swedish curling team Monday night to advance to the semi-finals - a team that included Anette Norberg who appeared in the Hammerfall video in 2006 - it might behoove the band to consider a True North remake. Tour dates in Montreal and Quebec City are right around the corner, eh?
