An unpatched flaw in Adobe's Acrobat Reader product has been discovered and is under attack according to TechRepublic's Ryan Naraine.

Naraine relays the situation assessment from experts at ShadowServer: "very bad."

The vulnerability can be defeated by disabling Javascript from inside Acrobat Reader:

Click: Edit -> Preferences -> JavaScript and uncheck Enable Acrobat JavaScript

Another option is for users to use an alternative PDF reader in the meantime.  A list is provided by http://pdfreaders.org/.

To remain abreast of this unfolding story, Adobe customers and spectators may wish to follow the tweets from Brad Arkin, Product Security and Privacy for Adobe Systems.

(Yes, the Adobe logo is red).
