Cloud computing came with a big bang but could not get as much response from the customers as anticipated.

The main reason for that perhaps is trust. IT professionals and the corporate sector are still not very confident and sure about the security and safety of data on cloud.

Currently, there are no specific standards or audit controls formulated for cloud computing environments to clear vendor doubts in their customers' minds by proving that they are strictly following the standards or showing audit clearance results.

That is why large companies are finding the next best standards to latch onto. Google is working on certification under FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act) and now Microsoft joins the race following a declaration from CSO of Microsoft Federal about ISO 27001 for Cloud Services.
