Doin' Da Bump with Paypal and iPhones

Paypal has released a revamp of their iPhone app, and this one makes it even easier to send money, at least to someone else with an iPhone or iPod touch, a Paypal account, and the new app.

They're calling it Paypal Bump, and it makes splitting the cost for a case of Mountain Dew as easy as letting the sender's and recipient's iPhones have a little snuggle.

Open up the app, connect to the person you're hanging out with, select the amount you want to send and hit "Bump To Send Money." Your funds will transfer directly to the recipients account, no fuss, no muss.

The app can still be used the traditional way, by filling in a recipients email address and shooting them funds, or by making a funds request, but the whole bump thing is just so much cooler.

Clearly, this ultimately won't be a Paypal-exclusive feature but will spread to other systems and devices as developers offer new ways to access and move funds (and steal them I suppose, but that shit goes with the territory).

In the meantime, it's almost enough to make me want an iPhone instead of my Android device. O.K., that's bullshit.  But it's still pretty cool.
