Foxtel iQ2 - More HD Channels and Stylish Looks
Foxtel, is an Australian television subscriber company similar to many cable companies here in the U.S. They provide paid programming for viewers and were formed through a joint venture between Telstra, Consolidated Media Holdings and News Corporation. When Australis Media, a satellite television company known as Galaxy, was declared insolvent, Foxtel began supplying programming for Galaxy’s subscribers, and is now a growing cable media company in Australia.
Foxtel announced in November it would be launching 30 new channels which will be automatically delivered to its paid subscribers. They are also planning to add new HD channels to its bag, and I’m not talking about a small bag of HD channels, but a large one. In order to watch them at a high quality standard, the iQ2 digital video recorder has been released on the market which boasts a larger storage capacity and a sleek new look.
iQ2 is finished in a glossy piano black color and the box is rather large due to the added capacity for storing HDD, and includes four digital tuners on the inside. Despite the size, you won't complain about the noise, as the iQ2 is very quiet. The Foxtel iQ2 “arsenal” counts HDMI, SCART, S-video and composite outputs, component and optical-digital audio.
Users of Foxtel's iQ2 can “rent” films by using Box Office movies at around $5.50 for each. The “On Demand” service allows its users to watch the selected programs when they please. If you are a current Foxtel subscriber, you can get an iQ2 upgrade for $200 fee and $10 per month on top of the regular subscription for iQ2 box.
