Sprint 4G Live in Five (More Cities, That Is)
Sprint is already the only carrier to roll out true 4G service, and it just increased its market dominance by adding five more cities to the 4G party.
Stockton and Modesto increase Sprint's already existing 4G footprint in California, and Florida (Jacksonville), Delaware (Wilmington) and Michigan (Grand Rapids) are all added as states that now have 4G states available in at least (well, only for now) one city.
Phones currently offered with 4G capability include the HTC Evo and the soon-to-be-available Samsung Epic (a Galaxy S-class phone), both of which run, of course, Android. But that's not a big deal: both are robust and feature filled phones, which means customers don't have to compromise on hardware to get access to what Sprint claims is a network that is up to 10 times faster than 3G.
Sprint's rapid expansion makes good business sense: if you're the only company out there offering 4G service, you have a great opportunity to snap up a huge bunch of customers, most of whom will likely come in under a two-year contract, locking them onto Sprint's network by the time other carriers roll-out their high speed offerings.
