Huge Black Hole Swallows a Star
Today I read an interesting article about a huge black hole swallowing a sun-sized star 4.5 billion light-years away. As per the article, this is the first time Astronomers see a black hole in action sucking a star with its unbelievably powerful gravitational forces.
I've heard and read many things about black holes and how powerful they are to a level that nothing, not even light, can escape it, but I have never thought it can suck in and destroy a huge sun-sized stars.

Astronomers said that the star was torn apart by the black hole, I believe because of its size, does that mean we can send a relatively smaller object (eg space shuttle) to go inside it? This might provide so much information about black holes, and also sends a message to those three eyed aliens that we are here :).
On the other hand, we know there are tens or maybe hundreds of supermassive black holes up their, so what's the effect on us if one of them started sucking the sun, the moon, or even Earth?
I'm not a scientist, but if this -god forbid- happens, then it's the beginning of the end, and no one can escape it.
