Blog Focus on the Grinch Who Stole Microsoft Word
Blog Focus is Technorati's daily roundup of the top stories as told by the bloggers of the world. Each day a handful of posts, no matter how popular or nascent, will be selected by editors to portray a general unscientific reaction to discussion points around the 'Net.

When Microsoft received the bad news from a federal appeals court that they must stop selling offending copies of Microsoft Word in Word 2007 and Office 2007, the blogs lit up like Christmas lights over the decision to take our favorite Christmas toys away. Here's a sample:
• Tech Ticker — Kunal Gangar brings us the particulars: the appeals court loss upholding the lower court's decision forces Microsoft to remove the feature (which Microsoft claims was barely used and it's not in Office 2010 and no one sat next to the feature at lunch, either, so no one's going to miss it or anything) in Office 2007/Word 2007 sales starting the 11th.
• Boy Genius Report — Kelly Hodgkins on the lawsuit winners, i4i, and their toof4toof result: "The winner, i4i, was much more jubilant in its response stating that it “couldn’t be more pleased with the ruling”. A $290 million windfall from a few lines of XML? We would be well pleased, too." In fact, you can tag their joy in numerous ways.
• Gadgetell — Hunter Clarke, on the other hand, thinks a royalty will be paid to keep the technology on the shelves until Office 2010 can replace it this year.
• ReadWriteWeb — Dana Oshiro wonders if i4i, fresh with the taste of MSFT blood, will chase out other companies with their newfound patent cudgel.
