Blog Focus on Tablet Devices
Blog Focus is Technorati's daily roundup of the top stories as told by the bloggers of the world. Each day a handful of posts, no matter how popular or nascent, will be selected by editors to portray a general unscientific reaction to discussion points around the 'Net.
Everybody's talkin' tablets at us today. Most of the tablets are whispers and leaked photos, but it appears hardware makers are certain 2010 is the year we're all going to pay for portable Internet devices that let us read US Weekly in whole new ways.
As now required by the FTC, we must report we have not received a single free tablet device for telling you about the blogs' discussions about tablets. Actually, the FTC doesn't require us to tell you when we don't receive hardware. But, y'know, we haven't. Received hardware. Ahem.
Onto blogs that might have:
• MediaMemo — Peter Kafka shows us what Sports Illustrated might look like on a tablet, thanks to a prototype demo from Time, Inc. Answer: it looks like it won't be free.
• Unwired View — Motorola's tablet gets a little peek from the public through leaked photos. The biggest news, though, is that Motorola is still in business, Droid or no. Who had money on that five years ago?
• Engadget — Nilay Patel demonstrates the Nokia N900 tablet's 3D graphics capability. Above all, this proves tablets are still actually released occasionally.
• TUAW — Chris Rawson overhears an Internet pundit who claims to have overheard that the rumored Apple tablet will be surprisingly inexpensive. This also qualifies as the closest thing to a fact to ever be associated with the Apple tablet.(DISCLOSURE: TUAW bought me two beers in 2007 at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. I am so very, very sorry if this cheapens me as a journalist. I should have held out for a mini-keg.)
