Blog Focus is Technorati's daily roundup of the top stories as told by the bloggers of the world. Each day a handful of posts, no matter how popular or nascent, will be selected by editors to portray a general unscientific reaction to discussion points around the 'Net.

Got a word of the day calendar cheaply today, mostly because it's December now and it's a 2009 calendar.  Therefore, there's not a lot of words left, so we intend to get every last drop of use out of that word today.  Try to guess it.

9 to 5 Mac — Apple appears to be poised to buy Lala and its social music service.  In completely unrelated news, "iTunes Hegemony" would be a great band name if Apple wouldn't sue the snot out of that band.

TechCrunch — Google has a dictionary now.  You can use it to look up "hegemony".


Slashdot — Of course, you wouldn't need to look up "hegemony" if you used the Internet more.  Technology use makes us more literate, even the texting languages we make up.  Apparently, writers write and it doesn't matter in what way.  

Mashable — Being able to see Pompeii's ruins in Google Street View is awesome, but doesn't this show the Google hege... okay, that one was a little forced.
