Apple uses a tool called "Genius" within iTunes to show you what you may also like based on what your history in iTunes has been. It's been pretty successful thus far, so why not place it in other Apple software outside of iTunes? Apple thinks that adding Genius to Apple TV is the right start in making recommendations to viewers. Sure it's extremely similar to what you see in Netflix, but as we all know, there's only so much material on Netflix. Apple TV has the latest up to date TV shows and Movies for you to choose from, at a pay per watch price of course.Apple Insider showed us a couple of screenshots they found on Apple TV as seen above. Apparently the addition of the Genius recommendation function did not require any firmware update, or software to install. It was simply 'turned on' in Apple TV's server backend. Is this just a simple addition to Apple TV for the time being until we see a real Apple Smart TV? I guess we'll find out in time. Regardless, this feature is sure to bring larger revenues, otherwise, why would they bother.
