Streaming Services Appear on Android Devices
Nothing's available yet, of course, but we'd be remiss if we didn't post the latest streaming-video-on-Android news out of the this year's CES in Las Vegas. It appears that both Netflix and Hulu Plus will be available on Android-based phones soon.
The former has already shown up on the the Verizon-offered LG Revolution, as you can see in the freeze frame above taken from Unwired View's video (watch the entire hands-on video at their YouTube Channel). Supposedly, connectivity issues in the convention center precluded demoing the app, but you can see it sitting there just calling your name, can't you?
As for Hulu, they've actually made it official that they'll be releasing a Hulu Plus (their subscription service) app for use on "select" Android phones running 2.2 or better. No scheduled release date beyond "the coming months," but it's great news all the same. They even gave CES attendees a sneak peek yesterday. Read the details in their blog entry on the topic.
We already know Android is going to continue its march to dominance in 2011 - now with the two major streaming players releasing apps, nothing but Godzilla teamed with Megalon could possibly stop it.
