Samsung Galaxy Tab Leaked Again, Points to US Release
Some last minute leaks have confirmed some aspects of Samsung's new Galaxy Tab before its launch, and apparently it is heavily influenced by Apple's iPad. Photos obtained from the iAndroid forum show the device with a "CMDA" label that points to a US release this year. Verizon's roadmaps also showed that they would also carry it.
A second leak at OLED-Display show that most of the accessories are influenced by the iPad or equivalents. Among these are:
- A keyboard dock
- White earphones with inline microphones, hinting the Tab might be available in white
- A video dock from Samsung, which includes a HDMI port to watch movies on your TV in 720p
The user who took these pictures says the device has strong speakers, good call quality (Not stated if 3G or WiFi), and Flash support, which is the biggest knock on the iPad. He also said the GPS is a bit slow, but it works perfectly.
There are no arguments about the specifications, which should include a 1024x600 7" screen, 16 GB of storage, front and back cameras, and Samsung's Hummingbird 1GHz processor. Samsung may also go the Apple route and ship with both 3G and WiFi. The device will run Android 2.2 and pictures have shown it will have Samsung's TouchWiz interface on the top.
The Tab will be unveiled on September 2 at IFA, and unconfirmed stories say Samsung will make just 100,000 units a month, much less than what Apple was producing.
