Nexus One Is a Good But Flawed Upgrade
I have this client who goes out and buys 
the latest gadgets the first day they come out. He already had a Motorola Droid from Verizon, but he heard the buzz about the Nexus One and bought one with a new T-Mobile contract.
After a few weeks, he was tired of it and sold it me. He didn't really dislike the device, but he picked the Droid over the Nexus One as his primary phone.
Why? Because of the physical keyboard. Droid has gotten some bad reviews about its keyboard, but in the end having a not-so-good keyboard is better than no keyboard.
I have used the phone for about a month now and I love it. I had a G1 before, so I was familiar with Android and all the available apps. There's no comparison with G1, although I too miss the keyboard.
Some people have reported some issues with 3G connectivity and the touch screen; two days ago I had a similar issue where I had no connection at all. The 3G logo was present on the screen, but nothing would connect, while my wife's Blackberry was connecting to EDGE and 3G on the same T-Mobile network without issue.
The problem started when I was using the Google Maps Navigation feature. Later on, I realized I wasn't getting any emails. When you manually sync a Gmail app it doesn't warn you of any failures, so it looked like there were no emails to fetch.
I love the 5MP camera with the flash built in. Now when I take pictures with my phone I know they will turn out, and I take more pictures with it than any previous phone. I don't use the multi-touch capability as much because it's new to me. I've found it helpful when using maps and Google Earth, and double tap works just fine when using the browser.
Android 2.1 is a real improvement from 1.6 and it really takes advantage of the Nexus One hardware. Animated backgrounds are a really neat feature. Battery life could be a little better, but compared to the G1 it's not bad. Some others complained about the sound quality on the speaker, but I don't have that issue.
I personally love this phone. I would never change it for an iPhone, but maybe for a Droid because of the physical keyboard. Rumor is that Droid 2 will have an improved qwerty keyboard, so we will see.
