New GMail App 2.3.5 for Android Released Today
Good news! Are you sick of getting all of your GMail, including those pesky spam messages, on your Android phone? Well, it's time to save some bandwidth, people! Google has just released its new GMail App update, version 2.3.5.
This new version allows you to sync only your Priority Inbox so that you don't have to download everything that your Inbox holds. Save those battery resources! You can also customize your notifications to receive them once or never, and you can decide what's very urgent and what is not.
Another feature allows you to elect to show pictures in messages sent to you and the app will remember who those senders are. There are also new options for displaying message actions, and this new GMail app version will allow you to set special ringtones for each of the labels you've set up in your account.
But the best feature is the improvement in performance. The new GMail is supposed to work smarter and faster. Who can't get behind that?
So, how do you get it? First, be sure you have Android versions 2.2 or 2.3 installed on your phone (Go to Settings and About Phone at the very bottom of the list that appears to check). Then, just go to the Android Marketplace and download the update, which takes just a few minutes.
To set your options while in the GMail app, click on your options button in the lower right-hand corner of the phone. Then, select "More" and click on "Settings." You'll see a list of your GMail accounts. Click on the account you want to set options for and a whole list of them will appear. You can tell the app to sync messages for one day, two days, more days or none. You can also decide if you want labels synced, as well. It's all very easy to do.
So, start enjoying the new way to get your GMail. Allow your battery to live longer while you prosper!
