Apple Sues HTC: Claims Patent Infringement
Well, it looks like Android is all grown up and ready to be sued. Apple announced yesterday that they were filing a lawsuit against HTC, the largest Android handset manufacturer (and the maker of Google's Nexus One) over patent infringement.
Apple claims 20 cases of infringement related to the iPhone's user interface, architecture and hardware.
Steve Jobs, Apple CEO had this to say in the press release:
“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it. We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.”

Apple filed the suit with both federal court in Delaware and the U.S. International Trade Commission, and, according to the Wall Street Journal, is seeking a ban on U.S. imports, sales, and use of some HTC phones. About half of HTC's sales come from the U.S., and news of the suit caused HTC stock to dip as much as 3.3% on Wednesday.
