Android 2.2 Coming to Droids Next Week?
O.K. - so it's a rumor. But still, if it's true, there are an awful lot of Droid users out there that are going to be pretty damn happy next week.
According to Android Spin, a Verizon employee tipped them that the highly anticipated update to Android, version 2.2, code named Froyo, will start to be pushed out via OTA updates on August 6th, with all devices receiving the latest version of Google's OS by the 15th.
Devices scheduled to receive Froyo include the Motorola Droid X, the HTC Droid Incredible, and even the original Motorola Droid.
Further, the supposed tipster claims that this isn't an internal rumor, but confirmed. Calls to Verizon, though, have netted nothing but a bunch of "I don't have any information on that" comments, so we'll have to wait and see.
