A "promotion" can be one of two things: it can either be a title change (and hopefully a pay raise) at your place of employment, or it can be the act of promoting or marketing a certain service or product. In this article, we are going to focus on the marketing aspect of promotion.


Promotion is one of the four key components of marketing. Along with "Product," "Price," and "Distribution," it is one of the main aspects of marketing a product or service.

When one sets out to promote something, it seems the process is just pregnant with possibilities. However, one must be careful. There is a fine line between the truth and deception. And more times than not, promoters cross that line. Repeatedly.

For example, why do marketers call it a "TV set" when there is only one of them? Also, why do they say you are getting a "free gift"? Aren't all gifts free? Hmmmm. Makes you think, doesn't it?

Anyway, whether you are promoting a product yourself or buying a product that is being promoted, make sure you are keeping the communication process honest and on the up and up on both ends. Bloggers speaking about promotions can be found at sites like music-promotion-blog.
