acer

Acer Incorporated is a Taiwanese hardware manufacturer that is best known for its desktop and laptop PCs, PDAs and to a lesser extent servers, displays and peripherals.


Acer became the second largest PC vendor behind HP and ahead of Dell in 2009 operating in all parts of the world.

The company was founded in 1976 by Stan Shih as Multitech. Multitech was renamed Acer in 1987 and began to emerge as a force to reckon with in the PC world with its purchase of the mobile PC division of Texas Instruments in 1997.


Acer since then bought several companies to extend its growth including popular brands like Gateway, eMachines, Packard Bell or E-TEN.

Popular Acer products are the Acer Aspire desktop PC and notebook series, Acer Liquid cell phones, Acer Travelmate notebooks and Acer Aspire One netbooks.
