2010 NFL Preview: Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have had a great few years in the A.F. (After Favre) era. After a thrilling game which ended in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Packers are back and not only trying to get back to the playoffs, but make it all the way to the Super Bowl.
Aaron Rodgers has the tools at quarterback and Mike McCarthy has the coaching, but can Green Bay's offensive line, which has been a liability during the whole time Rodgers took the helm at quarterback improve, and give him plenty of protection and allow him to maximize his potential. Today, Technorati takes a look inside the Green Bay Packers.
Recap:
- 2009 Record: (11-5, 2nd NFC North, reached playoffs (Wild Card))
- Key Additions: none
- Key Departures: RB Ahman Green (UFL), DE Aaron Kampman (Jacksonville Jaguars), DE Michael Montgomery (Minnesota Vikings), P Jeremy Kapinos (free agency)
Overview:

Offense: Aaron Rodgers had his best season as a pro yet, throwing for 4,434 yards with 30 touchdowns and seven interceptions. However all that came to a crashing end in one of the best NFL Playoff games in Wild Card Weekend history in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals. If you think that memory isn't still embedded in Rodgers' memory, think again. What made Rodgers even more valuable is his ability to scramble out the pocket (when he was not running for his life) and make plays with his legs. Also he was definitely better in the second half of the regular season, when the Packers won seven of their final eight games to close the season out and get that final playoff spot in the NFC. Rodgers is backed up by Matt Flynn and Graham Harrell.
The running game is led by Ryan Grant, who had over 1,253 yards, and a 4.4 yards per carry average last season. He is easily the top running back in the line up, but expect Brandon Jackson to be challenged by James Starks for the 3rd down back position. Both players have better hands than Grant, but Starks should provide good competition to be Grant's backup.
