Veteran Baseball Players Still Getting it Done
I love the talk about professional athletes and their age. Once a guy gets into his mid 30s there's talk about taking the guy out to slaughter.
In baseball, players seem to either play until they're nearly in the grave or they are a flash in the pan.
Two players that you would swear were retired, but are still getting it done, are Jim Thome and Trevor Hoffman.
Thome, who's a designator for the Twins, sent the white pill over the fence, which tied Frank Robinson for eighth place on the career list with 586.
Hoffman, the perennial closing pitcher, earned his 600th save Tuesday night, closing out the Milwaukee Brewers' 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Both of these guys are still getting it done despite playing well past the back nine holes of their career.
So while age is just a number, when you have talent, age is just distraction.
