Various reports are pointing towards a Red Sox waiver move that makes me want to jump off the Tobin Bridge.

According to Sports Illustrated as reported by the Boston Globe:

The Red Sox have put in a waiver claim on Johnny Damon, SI.com baseball writer Jon Heyman reports.
The Red Sox have been pretty quiet in adding a veteran presence to their lineup, but this could happen if the Tigers simply decide to award Boston the claim or decide to work out a trade for the veteran outfielder. There's 48 hours to go before anything needs to be decided. The Tigers could also pull him back.
The Sox may have been blocking Tampa Bay from getting an outfielder.
The Red Sox are said to be one of the teams Damon has a no-trade to, but could waive it to return to Boston. Stay tuned. Damon earned $8 million this season.

Please, Theo Epstein (the Sox GM), if you're reading this, please tell me you've had a momentary lapse of judgment. Tell me you smoked a big fatty at lunch and said to the owners, "Hey man, Johnny Damon is available. Let's pick him up for sh*t's and giggles. Wouldn't that be wikked cool?"

We don't need Johnny Damon and his non-throwing-ass in Boston. Again. The guy is a traitor and went to play for the hated Yankees for cryin' out loud.

Why do the Red Sox need yet another aging outfielder who can't throw, barely hits his weight and looks like a caveman?

Please, Theo, say it ain't so.
