MLB and the Hot Button Issue of Instant Replay

I love baseball. I love watching the old footage of some of the greatest players who have ever watched the game. I love visiting my home field, which is Fenway Park, because there's a mystique about the place that reminds me of the old footage and pictures. It reminds me of the historical nature of the game in American society as well as how the game has woven itself into many family stories and lives throughout the years.

Simply put, it is America's Great Past Time (though football junkies would argue against that statement).

Regardless, baseball is a big of a part of our country just as political bickering and gambling is.

One part of the game, that's in hot debate these days, is video replay.

Now, as a purist, I understand the anti-replay movement. The game is played, and governed by people and not machines — regardless of the human error factor. However, others want to see replay for all of major league games and not just the playoffs.

I'm with the latter group, despite being a purist. I want to see the right calls be made, especially when each game counts — despite the season being 162 games long. Teams have not made the playoffs by a single game and more often than not, have lost a game or two on a bad call.

ESPN took the debate to some old timers who discussed the reasons to and reasons not to implement replay. It's interesting to hear both arguments from this group — a group that played the game in its heyday.

What do you think about replay in baseball?
