blown callLast night's Angels v. Yankees game was another in a long line of sporting events that have many critics crying for the implementation of a greater level of instant replay in baseball. Specifically, there were two plays at third base and one at second that generated considerable controversy.

Sports are big business and losing millions of dollars because a human referee/umpire got the call wrong can be devastating financially. At some point down the road owners will simply let superior technology call ALL the action, eliminating a crucial human element. Particularly in a sport like tennis, you can envision a not too far off future where human umpires and linesmen simply do not exist.

Is it disappointing to lose a game because of human error (player or official)? Of course. But I'll take that over the eventual alternative.
