SLAM Reporter: Should Unathletic Media Members Criticize the Games of Pro and College Players?
SLAM Magazine correspondent Eric Woodyard put on a show recently at the University of Michigan men's basketball media day. As the video shows above, he looks slightly more comfortable on the court than his jeans-wearing counterparts.
He also raises an interesting point: is it cool for guys who suck at basketball to criticize the games of guys who are very good at it?
Not only have they not competed for an organized team, most of them have never even played recreationally!
This includes most of the media and sparks the debate on whether or not they are certified to be even covering a particular sport if they have no experience. If you really think about it, how are they? How can you comment on something that you haven’t done?
Not sure I agree entirely, but I would be willing to be many of the players feel this way.
