NBA Off-Season Merry-Go-Round Continues
Now that the dust has settled with the situation down in Miami, the new old Big Three are intact, and other notable free agents have found homes, you figured that the drama would be over.
Think again.
Hornetts point guard and NBA All-Star Chris Paul is rumored to want an exit strategy out of New Orleans. However, the GM of the team says that their prized possession hasn't asked for a trade.
Despite two years remaining on his contract, Paul said at his charity golf outing earlier this month that he would welcome a trade if the Hornets did not demonstrate a willingness to give him a supporting cast that would make the club good enough to compete with any team in the NBA.
On the heels of that statement, Paul fired his agent and hired Leon Rose, who also represents LeBron James. Paul also agreed to work with James' LRMR marketing agency.
The NBA off-season been a merry-go-round of rumors, signings and high stakes drama, including the soap opera that played out in Miami.
One of the cast of characters caught up in the rumor mill was Chris Paul, all-star point guard for the New Orleans Hornets. At first, it appeared that Paul was headed out of town. However, the tide turned after Paul met with the head coach and team officials. The team released a statement saying that Paul was encouraged by the discussion.
"I expressed my desire to win and I like what they said about the direction that they want to take the team. I have been a Hornet my entire career and I hope to represent the city of New Orleans and state of Louisiana for many years to come," Paul said in a statement as reported on ESPN.com
