The Miami Heat had a huge meltdown in game 2 of the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat had a 15 point lead late in the 4th quarter against the Dallas Mavericks and looked like they were ready to start celebrating. I honestly thought that the game was pretty much over for the Dallas Mavericks and it looked like the Miami Heat would go into game 3 with a 2 to 0 series lead.

The Dallas Mavericks had other plans however and launched one the greatest 4th quarter comebacks in NBA history. All of a sudden, it looked like the Miami Heat forgot how to score against the Dallas Mavericks defense. They started taking long jump shots instead of getting the ball to the basket. They also seemed to forget how to get the ball in the hands of Dwayne Wade who had the hot hand early.

LeBron James did have a very good 4th quarter. LeBron elected to shoot from downtown rather than getting the ball inside and getting to the free throw line. The Miami Heat not only had a meltdown on offense but also on defense. This allowed the Mavericks to go on a run late in the 4th quarter and eventually allowed Dirk Nowitzki to take over the game.

With the game tied at 93 points, the Mavericks got the ball into the hands of Dirk Nowitzski. I thought that Nowitzki would take a fade away jump shot but instead he took it to the hole. Nowitzki put the ball on the floor and made an incredible move to blow past Chris Bosh to get the game winning score.

The bottom line is that the Miami Heat totally melted down in the 4th quarter to fall to the Dallas Mavericks by a sore of 95 to 93. We will soon find out if the Miami Heat will have the mental ability to bounce back after such an amazing loss.
