The PGA Championship ended the same way it started, with plenty of stories.  Going into the event we had plenty of stories.  Could Mickelson or Stricker overtake Tiger as the worlds #1 ranked golfer?  Would Tiger work his way into the Ryder Cup?  Who would win the Wanamaker Trophy?

As the golf world watched, other stories make the headlines.

Kaymer Wins

It took all three playoff holes for Kaymer to defeat Bubba Watson and be declared champion of the PGA Championship.  The 25 year old German now has a major to go along with his 5 wins on the European Tour. 

How did he do it?  If you had told me after the first round he would be the winner I may have laughed in your face.  An up and down round, Kaymer shot even par 72 with 4 bogey's, 2 birdies and an eagle.  After that, it was smooth sailing.

In his next three rounds the youngster, made only 2 bogeys.  Impressive considering the difficulty of Whistling Straights accompanied by delays due to weather during rounds one and two.  His second round was completely bogey free and made 13 birdies over the three rounds to get into the playoff where he defeated Bubba Watson.  He added another birdie during the playoff and his bogey on the third playoff hole was enough to win.

Watson and Johnson Walk Away Winners

Bubba Watson played the 18th at even par through four rounds during until a double bogey on the 3rd playoff hole cost him the championship.  It's a tough way to lose and Bubba knows it but he was classy all the way after his round.  A guy that plays with emotion and is not afraid to show it (see his first PGA Tour win at the Travelers), Bubba spoke like a true gentleman and expressed how excited he was to be a part of it.
