For the past few months, the golfing world has leveled off a bit and the Tiger Woods scandal news sort of took a back seat, to, of all things, playing golf.

However, with the 139th British Open scheduled to begin on Thursday, Woods and his sexual antics are back in the news as the British media hammered him on his affairs and personal life.

Woods, who will attempt to win for the third time at the Old Course, took 17 questions that were in some way related to events surrounding his personal affairs, including how the drama may impact his play this week at St. Andrews.

"It doesn't impact it at all," Woods told reporters. "I'm here to play a championship, and this is the Open Championship at St. Andrews. I mean, this is as good as it gets. It's the home of golf. I'm just like every other player in this field, really looking forward to getting out there and playing the Open Championship."

Of course, Woods is in the belly of the star-seeking media beast, where tabloids rule the roost. The UK media is aggressive and as a result, most of the personal-related questions came from that core group of media.

Despite the barrage of questions, Woods didn't take the bait, only saying, "I'm not going to go into that."

The only secret that Woods unleashed on the media that day was that he was thinking of using a new putter for the first time in 11 years.

Woods is ditching the Scotty Cameron Newport 2, a putter which has been in use for 13 of his 14 major championships. He is now using a new Nike model called the Method.

"I've always been tempted to change my putter on slower greens and I've always struggled when greens are really slow," Woods told reporters. "I've always felt more comfortable when the greens are quick. I've always experimented with other putters throughout the years but I've never put one in play until now."
