For those of you not familiar with the FedEx Cup, it's the PGA Tours version of a "playoff".  They players earn points throughout the season up until last weekend at the Wyndham Championship.  The top 125 point earners then qualify for the playoff, which is a four tournament event starting this coming weekend at The Barclay's.

After The Barclay's, the top 100 players remaining (and anyone tied) will move on to the next event, The Deutsche Bank Championship at the TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts. Want more golf?

If you are in the top 70 (and anyone tied) after the Deutsche Bank, you qualify to play for your third week in a row at the BMW Championship at Cog Hill in Lemont, Illinois.  Those who manage to finish in the top 30 after this event will play in THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola.  This takes place at East Lake CC in Atlanta, GA where our FEDEx Cup Champion will be crowned.

Can Anyone Win

I guess in theory yes.  If you're in, you have a chance to win.  While during the season players earn 500 points for a PGA win, they will now earn 2,500 points.  Those of you who remember Heath Slocum showed us how this was done last year.  Slocum squeaked his way into the top 125 then won the Barclay's and shot up to 3rd place.  He eventually finished 8th.

Now I'll confuse you.  After the BMW Championship, the top 30 players (and those tied of course) will have their points adjusted accordingly for THE TOUR Championship.  The idea is to give everyone who has made it this far a chance to win the FedEx Cup.  If you're in the top 5 going into The Tour Championship it's simple... win in Atlanta and you win the FedEx Cup.  Everyone else has a chance but needs some help along the way from the top five.
