If you think you had a great weekend, it was nothing compared to the weekend Jim Furyk had.  Furyk made par on the 72nd hole from a greenside bunker to win the TOUR Championship and the FedEx Cup playoffs.  His hat turned backwards to prevent raindrops from distracting him, Furyk knocked in his 3 foot putt to save par and offered an enormous fist pump to the golf world.  How big was the par?  How about $11,350,000.  Not bad for a weekend of work.

Looking back to the start of the playoffs, Furyk was an unlikely choice to win.  Starting the FedEx Cup playoffs in 3rd place, he was disqualified from the Barclays for arriving late for the Pro-Am, which dropped him down to 8th at the time.  In the next two events, Furyk was nothing special but played well enough to advance.  Winning the Tour Championship, his 3rd victory of the season, Furyk earned enough points to jump to the top of the standings ahead of Matt Kuchar who had led since winning the first event.

Kuchar, who finished in a tie for 25th at the TOUR Championship, finished in 2nd place in the FedEx Cup, earning him $3,000,000.  Luke Donald finished in 2nd place at the TOUR Championship, just one stroke behind Furyk.  It was good enough for 3rd place in the FedEx Cup Standings and $2,000,000.
