Five Fun Moments at the 2010 British Open
The third major of the year is complete and Louis Oosthuizen left little doubt on who the winner would be along the way. Claiming the lead after his 2nd round, Oosthuizen (known as Shrek on The Tour) didn't sit on it, he continued to run with it. His final score of 16-under and 7 stroke margin of victory for the tournament had people drawing comparisons to Tiger Woods US Open win at Pebble Beach in 2000. Woods won by an incredible 15 strokes.
5 Fun Moments at The 2010 Open Championship
5. Rory McIlroy providing us with two exciting rounds. No matter who the player is, if he shoots 63 in a major to lead the event and follows it up with an 80 (yes, a 17 stroke difference), it's interesting. It goes to show you what how tough this course can be depending on weather and Pro Golfers can struggle just like us regular people.
4. The 17th Hole: I don't know if you can call this the most fun hole in golf but from a spectators standpoint, it's pretty cool. You hit a blind tee shot over a hotel and hope it lands in the fairway or short rough. You then contend with the Road Hole Bunker, a shot that no golfer ever wants to hit (except to say they did it once). If they had cameras on this hole alone it would be an interesting event. This hole featured only 16 birdies, 173 bogeys and 68 double bogeys+... How's that for a golf hole!
3. John Daly: I'm annoyed with myself for mentioning him in the my Top 5 but the combination if his pants, history (he won the British Open in 1995), and opening round 66 made him a story. In true Daly like fashion, he managed to shoot the next 3 rounds over par and finish +1. Not bad and certainly not as bad as his pants.
