In what was supposed to be a step-forward kind of season for a young Chicago Bulls team that took the then-defending champion Boston Celtics to seven games in the first round of last year's playoffs, it's been anything but.

The Bulls latest embarrassment was allowing a 35-point second half lead to evaporate last night against the Sacramento Kings, the biggest second half comeback in the NBA since 1996. To make matters worse, it was in front of the Bulls' home crowd.

Last year's Rookie of the Year, Derrick Rose, was out-dueled by Sacramento rookie Tyreke Evans. Evans succeeded Rose in college at Memphis last season, and may succeed him as NBA Rookie of the Year this season. Rose actually out-scored (24 to 23) and out-assisted (8 to 3) Evans, but it was Evans (aka 'Reke Havoc) who came up big down the stretch, scoring nine points in the final two minutes of the game to help Sacramento steal the game.

The Bulls have had several forgettable performances this season, prior to this meltdown, in seven of their 14 losses, they'd lost by deficits of 26, 35, 32, 24, 19 (twice) and 28.
Let the Vinny Del Negro death watch begin, if it hadn't already.
