The Detroit Tigers traded star center fielder Curtis Granderson to the New York Yankees yesterday.

The loss of Granderson, a very popular player in Detroit because of his play on the field and his community efforts, is already being mourned by Tigers fans. Here's how bloggers reacted:

Bless You Boys: "As a baseball writer, I think the Tigers made a good trade and am excited about the pitching they've received in return. Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth should be fun to watch over the next few years. As a fan, I'm disappointed to see a popular, homegrown player like Granderson off to another team. And I really came to enjoy watching Jackson pitch this season."

Detroit Tiger Weblog: "He became a key part of the magical 2006 team that made baseball relevant again in Detroit. For many of you reading this you wouldn’t even be on this site were it not for his contributions. He had a big series against he Yankees in the playoffs, but I mostly remember him for hitting a game-tying homer in the 9th inning against the Reds that year. As the season wore on though he became a regular target for quotes on Fox Sports coverage because he was so well spoken, humble, and affable."

Detroit4lyfe: "As for the Granderson trade, it's definitely tougher to swallow.  He's been in the Tigers system from the start and appears to be an upstanding person for all we know.  Any time you put your heart and soul into cheering for a guy for seven years, there's going to be a certain degree of attachment, or loyalty, involved.  Granderson created a lot of highlights over the years that nobody will forget.  However, there are also several memories of Granderson that I wish did not exist.  For example, the sinking feeling I got in my stomach whenever I saw him walking to the plate with a lefty on the mound."
