New Twitter

Twitter has turned over a new leaf – er, feather. The #NewTwitter upgrade has both the blogosphere and the twitterverse chirping away about its new features. Here’s a preview of what’s in store for Twitter users and how to know if you’re upgraded yet.

New Twitter Features Embedded Video, Photos, Artwork and More…

In addition to a cleaner, less-cluttered time-line and a crisp new design, the New Twitter lets you see additional tweets without always having to click “More…” plus it embeds photos and videos directly. Currently, Twitter works with well-known art, video and image sites including DeviantART, Etsy, Flickr, TwitPic, TwitVid, Vimeo, YouTube and more.  You’ll also be able to see a “mini profile” of a Twitter user without leaving the current page you’re on, and see related content including geotagged tweets, @replies from other users and so forth.

 Am I Upgraded Yet?

The new Twitter will roll out across the next few weeks. Not surprisingly, a new web-based app called “Am I Upgraded Yet?” has already been released to tell you if your account has been switched to the New Twitter interface (you can still switch back for some time as you get accustomed to the new features). With “Am I Upgraded Yet?” you simply login to Twitter (no registration required) and it will periodically query the Twitter API to see if you have the new stuff or not. As of this writing, less than 5% of Twitter users do, so there’s no need to feel like you’re missing out!
