Social Network NaturallyCurly Pumps Up the Volume with Acquisition
An Austin, Texas-based social networking site has made a hair-raising deal.
NaturallyCurly, devoted to people with curly, kinky and wavy hair, said it acquired CurlyNikki.com for an undisclosed amount.
NaturallyCurly’s online network already includes CurlStylist.com, a professional community for stylists catering to curly haired clients, and CurlMart.com, an e-commerce boutique showcasing more than 50 brands and 500 community-endorsed products.

CurlyNikki.com was founded by Alicia Nicole Walton in 2008.
Crista Bailey, CEO of NaturallyCurly, said: “In less than two years, CurlyNikki.com has become the leading natural hair blog. Her mission in helping those with natural hair embrace their real beauty dovetails with NaturallyCurly’s of encouraging people to lead a healthier, happier life by embracing their hair—be it curly, kinky, wavy or straight.”
CurlyNikki.com, with more than 100,000 unique visitors, features community and celebrity interviews, styling tips, how-to videos and inspirational tales.
Founded by former Austin American-Statesman reporters Michelle Breyer (right in photo) and Gretchen Heber (left in photo), NaturallyCurly is a network of sites for people with curly hair.
The flagship brand, NaturallyCurly.com, attracts 450,000 monthly visitors. The entire network, including CurlStylist.com and CurlMart.com, logs 800,000 monthly visits.
