If you haven't heard by now, you must be living under a rock. Steven Slater, you know, the JetBlue airline attendant who opened up the airplane door, engaged the slide and took off after he flipped his lid due to a "misbehaving" passenger, is now a Facebook stud.

The incident caused a storm of media coverage and as a result, Slater's fame grew in popularity because of Facebook.

Slater, who is currently being held in jail on $2,500 bail, has secured some decent support from Facebookers, specifically Community pages created to help him in his fight against the man. Pages that are called, "I hate the motherf*cker that called Steven Slater a motherf*cker" and "Steven Slater Legal Defense Fund, to name a few" have been launched in support of the flight attendant.

According to Mashable, Steven Slater has the most fans — more than 37,000 — and founder Kyle Terry claims to be raising funds for Slater to help cover his legal costs.

What do you think of the Slater phenomenon and how these incidents make instant celebrities of people in the news? Are you a fan of either one of the pages?
