A woman from upstate New York has been slapped with three years’ probation after a Facebook posting exposed her theft of workers’ compensation benefits.

Alexis Muniz, 28, of Accord, N.Y., was sentenced in Sullivan County after pleading guilty to stealing $8,975 in workers’ comp benefits while employed full time at an apartment complex, according to the New York State Insurance Department. Aside from the probation, Muniz was ordered to pay restitution.

Muniz was nabbed after investigators discovered a posting on her Facebook page, where she boasted about her salary and position as an apartment complex manager.

She also was accused of lying at a Workers’ Compensation Board hearing when she testified that she wasn't working at all while collecting benefits. She had been receiving the benefits for a job-related injury suffered at a previous employer.
