The Paranoid Guide to Better Living: Church Plans to Burn Quran
And now your host, Paranoia;
The roughly fifty-member Dove World Outreach Center Church in Gainesville, Florida, is making a decision that could very well cause a full out holy war.
On the anniversary of September 11th, these tools are actually planning on burning the Quran to protest Islam. That's right, deep in the heart of the country founded on religious freedom and freedom from religious persecution, they are going to hold a good old fashioned hate-filled book burning.
On their website it states that Islam is a "violent and oppressive religion" and they seek to eradicate Islam from the face of the Earth. Hey, it's the Crusades all over again! Clearly, the pastor of this church, Terry Jones, his mustache and his followers are living in the dark ages. Even more so than most of the Middle East seems to be.
However, as the residents of Kabul gathered to chant "Death to America," they highlight a different issue that Terry Jones has created. You see, even though this is a hillbilly church in the backwoods of Gainesville, the perception in the Middle East is that this is an American decision. All this while Obama is trying to better relations with the Muslim world.
General Petraeus was clear on how this stupid action could undermine our military efforts around the world, "It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort. It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems. Not just here, but everywhere in the world, we are engaged with the Islamic community."
We all know that the Muslim community is just as bad as the Christians when it comes to pushing their religious beliefs on others. Remember the fit they threw when that Dutch cartoonist drew Muhammad? So it's understandable that they'd be pissed off no matter what, but that's not my point. My point is that in this day and age, within the borders of America, there is going to be a freaking book burning of a religious text.
